The team I worked at offshore is about 50 odd people and to plan something on the fly and having it rolling has never been possible... repeat with me N-E-V-E-R. Repeat again, N-E-V-E-R have I given up on my efforts to put all 50+ under one roof.... This is just a glimpse of what I m to say more... Or rather the only thing;-)
My colleague clears his certification; please understand not just any certification but Infosys certification *intentionally creating hype for you to continue ;-)* To him it is not a big deal; while, you are not someone who leaves any opportunity to spam others mailbox royally!!! For a team of hardly 8 u type a gorgeous mail; all declarative and cheesy giving reasons only to unwind !!!
There goes a Mail subjected "Congrats" and like a shower pours replies "Congrats, lets go to Starbucks", "Congrats and Treat", "I m in", "Me too"....
I started to wonder if we will really go or will it be the way it has always been before; where, you ask for treat and never get one; atleast not for reasons like clearing certification which is like absolute mandatory by my company standards and no fancy thing to flaunt about:-)
At 3 p.m there are mails floating Congratulating and by 3:30 we decide of going to Starbucks. There are emails on this subject, multi chat window charting the plan, walk to cubicle confirming, while; by 3:40 no one remembers the plan... Very natural... AND? There comes a STRAIGHT hit "hey meera, wat happened its 3:40" and like an alarm it rings in everyone's head (ofcourse not to the one who is suppose to treat;-) ).. then what....
You (not just you but more than one) go persuade the host to move out of his cube and as you start to leave; pick everyone from their desk, remind them to leave their wallet and head to the parking lot and BINGO there is it; ALL the 8 actually wheeled to STARBUCKS!!! Heehaw.... You are out with your team huddled in two cars ... Amazing feeling!!!
A feeling of having WON finally!! Having got a treat for a reason!!! Had little trouble finding a parking lot; parked our cars, got busy ordering , it didn't end there; When waiting for the order to arrive I nagged people to take pics....And also Succeeded!!
The whole conversation was about coming out this quick, promising to get treat from others when they clear, alerting not to disclose the exam dates and raising toast to the host. Laughter, Cheer, Poses, Swears and what not :-)In simple words, it was such a special feeling of actually getting out with team and having a break!!!
As a last word it was so kind of my colleague to have accepted to treat otherwise my blogspace would not have this entry!!! Feeling relieved of having able to scribble my experience in words here and Relived the moments elaborated!!!
